Welcome to the Open Government Data Project

The Open Government Data Project: Understanding Society Through Public Administration Data sets an ambitious goal of exploring the potential of Open Data generated by public institutions. Through accessing and analyzing this data, we aim to promote transparency, innovation, and citizen participation in shaping public policies and making informed decisions.

What is Open Government Data (OGD)?

Open Government Data is data produced by public institutions with the aim of promoting transparency and accountability. However, this data often remains underutilized. Our project aims to overcome the challenges related to the production, documentation, and dissemination of high-quality data, making it easier to access and use for scientific research and the creation of value for society.

Our Core Activities

  • Open Data Observatory of Public Administration: We create a hub to transform public data into research-ready resources. We structure and document the data, ensuring international compliance, and engaging public administration in data creation and sharing.
  • Development of New Research Areas: We explore how the digital society is redefining topics such as citizenship, employment, education, health, and security. Our research informs data-driven policies and promotes an in-depth understanding of social phenomena.
  • Multimedia Laboratory: We create multimedia tools to disseminate knowledge. We support teacher training and provide resources for interactive learning, engaging the non-academic community as well.

A Significant Impact

Our project aspires to create a lasting impact on scientific, technological, and socio-economic levels.

Scientific Impact
Our research will contribute to the creation of new scientific knowledge, measurable through publications in national and international journals and participation in competitive grants. We will enhance human capital by recruiting experts and offering advanced training courses, establishing national and international research networks, and sharing high-quality data.

Technological Impact
Our technological commitment will result in the production of accurate data and the development of innovative methodologies for analyzing data from various sources.

Economic and Social Impact
In the short term, the project will create jobs and promote the purchase of goods to enhance education. In the medium to long term, we will contribute to advanced training, enhancing human capital and promoting citizen data usage to create economic opportunities and influence policies.

In summary, our project aims to achieve effective “Data Maturity” and addresses digital challenges, creating lasting changes in both the scientific and socio-economic realms.
